What If Tear-A-Part Doesn’t Have My Part?

Tear-A-Part’s inventory rtp slot is massive.

We literally have acres of vehicles for you to access. Even so, occasionally you’ll need a part from a make and model that’s not onsite.

It doesn’t happen a lot, but we have you covered regardless! We are dedicated to helping you save money and quickly find what you need.

Here are three different ways we can work with you to help you track down the exact part you’re looking for when it’s not housed on our lot.

1. The Interchange System

Did you know that many auto parts are actually compatible with several makes, models and manufacturing years?

It’s because each auto manufacturer makes a variety of vehicles. And in order to keep their production costs low, they use the same parts across their line whenever possible.

Since many manufacturing companies share suppliers, those same parts are often used in multiple vehicle makes and models. I.e. You may discover the part you need is waiting for you in a vehicle from a different manufacturer that was produced three years before your car.

Crazy, huh?

Some identical parts are found in lots of different vehicles. For instance, an engine from a 1998 F-150 pickup truck is the exact same engine found in 12 other vehicles. Sorry to burst your bubble, but the good news is that it really increases your chances of finding the part you need when you need it.

But, not all parts are compatible. I.e. You can’t randomly take a part from one car and assume that it’ll work in yours.

You have to know which parts can be interchanged.

That’s why you need Tear-A-Part’s proprietary interchange system. This valuable resource lets you know which OEM parts are compatible with what. You’ll be able to look for your part across a wider range of vehicles, and have confidence that it’s the right one.

This system is offered free of charge to our customers. Just come on down to either location and let our sales staff help you find the right part when you’re ready.

2. A Changing Inventory

It’s also possible (but pretty rare) that we won’t have any of the vehicles compatible with yours onsite.

The good news is that we try to consistently maintain a fresh batch of parts for our customers. That’s why we bring in new inventory daily.

This constantly changing inventory means the odds are good that we’ll have what you’re looking for soon. To save time, you can easily check our inventory for both Tear-A-Part locations on the website:

  • Salt Lake Inventory
  • Ogden Inventory

Once you’ve clicked on the link for your location, searching the inventory is simple. Just enter the make and model of the vehicle you’re looking for using the drop-down menus.

If there are any of those vehicles on the grounds, a list will pop up with more information. You’ll be able to see the manufactured year and its location on site. That way you won’t waste any time searching once you get here.

3. Talk to One of Our Sales Staff

Our staff is dedicated to helping you track down the part you need to get your vehicle up and running again.

If you aren’t having success finding what you need, talk to one of our sales staff about what part you’re looking for. They’re more than happy to offer additional assistance to help you get out the door with the part you need.
